Newtown Astronomy Society
Written by Al Frean on 5 June 2017
A warm welcome is extended to everyone interested in or learning about astronomy at the June 10th meeting of the Newtown Astronomy Society. Although this is an AGM event, the “serious part” will be over and done with very quickly. Normality will be resumed with an intriguingly titled talk – ” 5 mad things to do this Summer” – presented by Dr Tony Cook of Aberystwyth University, who never fails to surprise or entertain his audience.
Following his presentation, there will be a short refreshment break with tea/ coffee and biccys available at a nominal charge. This final meeting before the summer recess also features an outstanding top raffle prize of a Celestron Travelscope, along with other astronomically related items for the winners to choose from. To end the meeting, there will be an events guide to the next couple of months, along with any other material/photographs that our members may bring to the event.
The Society meets at the Newtown Scout Hut, Park Lane, on the second Saturday of each month at 7pm. (No meetings July or August). For any further information, contact the NAS Secretary – Les Fry, at: secretary.newtownastrosoc@gmail.com
