Aberystwyth is awarded “plastic free” status
Written by Bobby Kelly on 14 March 2018
After concern swept the nation with David Attenborough’s “Blue planet” vividly showing the amount of plastics in our seas, Ceredigion is seemingly leading the way in reducing the use of plastics.
Local campaigners and Councillors have been working hard approaching businesses to sign up to the campaign and commit to reducing their use of plastics with great success whilst Ceredigion County council has committed to look at how it can reduce its use of plastics internally and within the procurement process after a motion put forward by Cllr Mark Strong.
We are excited to learn that Aberystwyth has met the Plastic Free Coastlines objectives and has been awarded “plastic free” status by Surfers Against Sewage.
Keep up to date with the campaign here at Radio Bronglais. Listen in an interview with Cllr Mark Strong before Aberystwyth was awarded “plastic free status” as well as a chat with Cllr Alun William, who came onto the Brunch show to share the news.
